What are the swine flu vaccine side effects?

can it be deadly? good idea to get it? bad idea? no bull $#1T please

I got the vaccine two days ago, my arm was a tiny bit sore but other than that I had absolutely no side effects. I would say get it, it beats having the flu…although keep in mind that you can still contract the swine flu even if you get the shot, it doesn’t work for everyone, same for the normal flu shot.

I am a nursing student who has be highly informed on this subject and I have spoken to other nurses as well. Here is what I know:
    ——————————————————————————-
-The vaccine is composed of a killed virus, so it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to get sick or contract H1N1/Swine flu.

-If you get H1N1, and you develop complications, they can be rather unpleasant. They include being very thirsty, but you always throw up whatever you drink, a high fever, severe malaise (you feel tired), muscle weakness, and overall you feel awful. You will have to be hospitalized, and may end up staying there for well over a week. So, in my opinion a little shot in the arm is much better than enduring that.

-I myself had the shot yesterday, and all I can say is that the site where it was injected feels a little bit sore, and I feel a little nauseous with some muscle aches (this is because your body is making antigens- these will be used to fight off H1N1 if you ever get it in your system). These symptoms generally disappear within a few days, and already I am starting to feel better :) However, I had my yearly influenza shot at the same time, so I may only be feeling this way because I had two injections. You may not get these signs and symptoms if you only get H1N1. Many people I have talked to who only had the H1N1 shot say their arm only feels sore.

-The amount of people who have had serious complications from the shot is insignificant in comparison to how many people feel fine/are well after receiving it.

-The vaccine is so trusted, that my faculty may make all nursing students get the vaccine for when we are working in the hospital so that we won’t spread it to other people.

I do hope this helps. As a soon to be health care professional, I highly recommend you get this shot based upon the evidence my faculty has been presenting us with, and my personal first hand experience getting the injection.

    I agree with ashley 100 %
Get the vaccine. This flu is pretty dangerous and there has been atleast 3 deaths in my area from it already.

My husband, 2 boys (5.5 & 3.5yrs) & myself got the swine flu vaccine last week. Other than alittle soreness around the injection area, no side effects, except for my 5.5yr old. He got his shot Friday morning & by the afternoon he had a cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever & nausea. It’s now Sunday evening & he’s now got a rash all over & still feverish…tired, no apetite & sore body. Our Dr recommended that he be the 1st of our family get the vaccine as he suffers from chronic croup…but I am starting to think that the side effects outweigh the chance of him contracting swine flu anyway.
Am going to take him back to the Dr tomorrow & am hoping that side effects start to go away.

I also recently had the vaccine and felt ill the following morning and for the following 4 days. I have fevers, sweating, coughing, muscular aches, and headaches. I’m also starting to wonder if the cure is worse than the disease or if I am contributing to making some drug manufacturer very rich!!!!

I and my daughter (4 years) got the swine flu vaccine yesterday and all seemed to be ok until about seven hours later my daughter woke up with a severe headache and a fever of 40 and shaking uncontrollable. She seems to be ok today but it scared me to see her like that. I’m with Terese on this one – side effects outweigh the chance of getting swine flu. Let me tell you the arm is still very sore. Hopefully she will be ok.

I had the flu injection which included the swine flu vaccine yesterday. I was fine yesterday, but today feel slightly nauseous, with a bit of backache and slightly upset tummy. My left arm is a bit sore. My husband reported similar symptoms when he got the vaccine last week. But I’m sure it beats having the swine or normal flu.
